Joe Caligiuri
Co-Founder, NHLPA Certified Agent and Legal Counsel
A practicing lawyer at Tapper Cuddy LLP in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Joe was born and raised in Winnipeg and is a former Western Hockey League and USports goaltender. In 2017, Joe graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba and was called to the Manitoba Bar in 2018. In 2019, Joe became an NHLPA Certified Player Agent.
Joe has represented several players at the professional and amateur levels including the National Hockey League. Joe’s strength is his ability to understand the complexities of the business side of hockey, while ensuring all his clients are well-informed of their rights and entitlements. He is constantly analyzing industry data to determine a player’s value, allowing him to effectively negotiate the appropriate compensation.
During his legal career, Joe has practiced in the areas of civil litigation, labour and employment law. This experience has allowed Joe to develop essential skills with regard to collective bargaining, contract negotiations and advocacy that translates directly to advising hockey players and their families.
Currently, one of only two NHLPA Certified Player Agents that resides in the Province of Manitoba, Joe ensures that he is fully accessible to all his players and their families while always maintaining a professional and player-first mentality.
Joe currently resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba with his wife Natasha.
Matt Calvert
Co-Founder, Director of Recruitment and Development
A former National Hockey League forward, Matt played over 10 seasons in the National Hockey League and amassed 566 regular season games played between 2010-2021. Unfortunately, a career-ending injury halted Matt’s career towards the completion of the 2020-21 season. Following his retirement from professional hockey, Matt worked in the Western Hockey League for the Brandon Wheat Kings as their development coach during the 2021-22 season. Matt’s primary role with CAL Sports is to oversee the recruitment of players, assist with player development and to serve as a mentor to players and their families throughout the rigours of a player’s career.
Matt was drafted in the fifth round, 127th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2008 NHL Draft. Known for his unmatched work ethic and compete level, Matt scored 95 regular season goals and recorded 203 regular season assists during his career with both the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Colorado Avalanche. Matt also scored two playoff overtime goals during his National Hockey League career demonstrating his knack for big moments.
Prior to playing professional hockey, Matt played three seasons with his hometown Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League from 2007-2010. In his final season, Matt tallied 99 points in 68 games while serving as the team’s Co-Captain. That season, Matt was integral in helping the Wheat Kings reach the Memorial Cup Final, where he was named to the tournament’s All-Star team.
Matt currently resides in Brandon, Manitoba, with his wife, Courtney, and their two sons Kasey and Beau.
Riley Dudar
Riley is a certified Hockey Canada skills coach, High Performance 1 coach and certified mental game coaching professional based in the City of Winnipeg. A former Junior hockey and USports forward, Riley founded the company Evolution Hockey which specializes in improving speed, skill, and hockey IQ with their clients. Riley has consulted with many of Manitoba’s elite amateur and professional players through private sessions and video analysis and is a key resource for CAL Sports Management clients. In addition, Riley is the Director of Development with the Western Canadian Hockey Academy and the Brandon Wheat Kings of the Western Hockey League.
Tyler Dittmer
Tyler is a former Western Hockey League and USports forward who is currently the Director of Player Development and Mentorship with the Western Canada Hockey Academy based in Brandon, Manitoba. Tyler played his minor hockey in Brandon and was part of the 2004 National Championship U18 Wheat Kings Team. Following his minor hockey career, he played four seasons for his hometown Brandon Wheat Kings in the WHL and led the team with 32 goals in his final season. Following his junior career, he played four seasons at the University of Manitoba with the Bisons. Tyler has extensive experience assisting amateur and professional hockey players with their development and is a great resource for all of CAL Sports Management clients. Tyler currently resides in the City of Brandon, Manitoba with his wife Kylie and daughter Scottie.
Tyler Plante
A former second round NHL draft choice of the Florida Panthers in 2005, Tyler played nine seasons of professional hockey which included stops in the American Hockey League and various European Leagues. Prior to his professional career, Tyler excelled as a three-year starting goaltender for his hometown Brandon Wheat Kings and was awarded the Western Hockey League Rookie of the Year in 2004-05. Currently, Tyler is the goaltending coach with the Brandon Wheat Kings and works as a goaltending consultant for several elite amateur and professional goalies. Tyler is a key contributor and resource for all CAL Sports Management goaltender clients. Tyler currently resides in the City of Brandon, Manitoba with his wife Jordana and their two children Jagger and Lucca.
Jory Nychuk
Born and raised in Rossburn, Manitoba, Jory is a former junior hockey player who assists with the recruitment of clients for CAL Sports Management. A graduate of Mount Royal University with a degree in Finance, Jory has a unique ability to understand the complexities of the business side of hockey while being an integral part of our client relations team. Jory also assists with providing and creating content for the various social media platforms of CAL Sports Management. Jory currently resides in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Justin Augert
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Justin played four seasons in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League with the Steinbach Pistons followed by four seasons in USports with the University of Manitoba Bisons. During his junior career, Justin was a Manitoba Junior Hockey League Champion in 2012-13 and was a second team Manitoba Junior Hockey League All-Star in 2013-14. Currently, Justin assists with the recruitment of clients for CAL Sports Management in and around the Province of Manitoba.
